Dental laboratory technicians can receive their education and training through a two-year program at a community college, vocational school, technical college, university or dental school. Graduates of these programs receive a bachelor's degree or a certificate. Several programs offer a four-year post-graduate program in dental technology.

In most cases, a person interested in applying to a recognized dental laboratory technology program requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
